MBS Foreword Online - NACS - National Student DayNational Student Day, sponsored by the National Association of College Stores (NACS) is a day dedicated to celebrating and promoting social responsibility by college students.

“For years, college students have been volunteering across their campus community and beyond,” said Director of Public Relations, Charles Schmidt. “From cleaning up a local park to serving as a Big Brother or Sister, they have taken time out of their busy schedules to perform selfless acts without seeking recognition. We felt it was about time to applaud these students for their efforts, which is why we came up with National Student Day.”

NACS launched a web site where stores register to participate and download free marketing materials. A low-cost starter kit with branded NSD wristbands and other promotional items are also available through The NACS Store to make planning the event even easier.

Once registered stores can view suggestions to jump-start the discussion on possible NSD events. Associate members of NACS are also participating, offering donated or discounted items to help stores in planning events. Stores can go as big or as simple as they would like.

The goal is for National Student Day to become an annual way for stores to connect with students while encouraging socially responsible behavior and causes. It’s a goal that crosses international boundaries. Better yet, this event helps you connect with students beyond commerce. This initiative can easily help you enhance your image in the eyes of students and in their perspective, make your store a fun, exciting place to go.

Students are encouraged to visit the web site to post pictures, videos, and stories about social responsibility activities on their campuses. There are even plans to award scholarships and other prizes to the top 10 entries.
