Submitting a Bin & Hold order is a great way to ensure your store has the right quantities of low-cost course materials ready for the next term. To help you maximize your wantlist fulfillment, we’ve outlined a few best practices, starting with a critical first step you don’t want to miss.

Important Tip for placing Bin & Hold Orders With Realtime OrderingAs a reminder, a Bin & Hold order is held for a set period, allowing more used books to be added over time through reworks or wantlist updates. Once your order is complete, you can receive it as a single consolidated shipment and choose your ship date.

The First Critical Step When Starting a Bin & Hold Order Using Realtime Ordering

Go to Service Center. Before processing your wantlist:

Select Type of Order as Bin & Hold and click Continue.

You should see the confirmation message “Form data successfully saved” at the top of the screen. Once you’ve done this, proceed with entering or uploading your order as usual.

If this step is skipped, your order will automatically default to ASAP. This means:

  • Your order will not be treated as a Bin & Hold
  • It will not be eligible for reworks
  • You may miss out on additional inventory opportunities

Taking just a few seconds to confirm your order type ensures you get the full benefits of Bin & Hold ordering and helps maximize your wantlist fulfillment.

Other Tips to Maximize Your Bin & Hold Order

1. Start your bin early

MBS has one of the nation’s largest inventories of used books—so the earlier you start, the better your selection.

After starting your Bin & Hold order, add adopted titles as they’re confirmed. We’ll store your books at MBS until you’re ready for shipment, helping you build a more complete and cost-effective order over time.

2. Request reworks

Reworks give your store continuous access to fresh inventory as it arrives. Instead of comparing your wantlist to a single snapshot, reworks match your list against inventory daily over an extended period.

This improves your chances of securing titles that weren’t available during your initial submission, boosting overall fulfillment.

Start your bin, then email us at cserv@mbsbooks.com to request a rework schedule
