College Colors Day, College Bookstores, College Stores, MBS Foreword OnlineCollege Colors Day is the perfect opportunity to show off your school's pride, drum up publicity and increase apparel sales at the same time! The annual celebration is dedicated to promoting the traditions and spirit that embody the college experience by encouraging fans across America to wear their favorite college or university apparel throughout the day on Friday, August 30.

In order to participate, all you have to do is register your organization and you'll be listed on a nationwide roster, increasing the visibility of your store. Then, advertise the event with College Colors Day's free promotional resources.

Not sure how to celebrate? No worries. We've come up with some easy ideas to help!

  • Create a Photo Op:

Let students put their pride on display! Design a fun background complete with mascot-themed props. You could even put your own spin on a traditional "red carpet" with your school colors! Then, invite students into the store to strike a pose in their most spirited ensemble. Be sure to post the resulting photos to your social media sites! Encourage participants to tag themselves in the pictures, so that your store shows up in all of their friends' newsfeeds, increasing your visibility.

  • Offer a Discount:

Everyone can always use more school-supporting apparel and there's no better time than College Colors Day to purchase it. Provide an in-store discount on merchandise like sweatshirts and hats for current students, then reach out to alumni with an online coupon code they can use on your e-commerce site. We created game day-themed coupons that could come in handy during College Colors Day. Check them out.

  • Host a Contest:

Have students compete for the namesake of your school's ultimate fan by submitting their own photos in their spirit wear. You could ask them to post their entries on any of your social accounts using a specific hashtag and ask your fans to vote, or choose a winner yourself. If your store uses Instagram, you could even create a slideshow of the entries and display it in-store using our easy step-by-step guide. Click here to learn more.

  • Thank Faculty:

Use the event as an excuse for faculty members to have some fun! Invite them to a tailgate lunch party and reward them with a coupon for discounted merchandise or a freebie. On a budget? Try partnering with local restaurants who may be willing to provide food at little to no cost in exchange for advertising.
