How Reworks Help You Get More Books

Wantlists can be handled in different ways, but the goal is always the same: get more access to books you need at the lowest possible cost. One of the best methods to do that is by utilizing wantlist reworks. A rework is when your wantlist is compared to the available inventory more than once a day. For example, when you submit a wantlist to MBS and leave it there for a length of time, it can be compared against our inventory multiple times a day. Each time the list is compared, that is a rework.

How Reworks Help You Get More Books

Why are reworks important?

Reworks take advantage of MBS’ fresh inventory, giving your store first pick of new inventory as it arrives. We are constantly getting new shipments of books in the warehouse. So rather than just comparing your wantlist to a single snapshot of our inventory, reworks compare your list to our inventory over an extended length of time. This gives you access to books that might not have been available when the list was first compared. This helps increase the number of books in your shipment.

“You’re sourcing from the largest wholesaler with the biggest inventory available. It makes no sense not to do it.”

Matt Schleede, UBS Course Materials Manager, University of Washington

How can I set up reworks?

By using SimpleSource, MBS will continually rework your wholesale open to buy for the set length of time you established when you set your parameter. All titles on an open-to-buy status will be reworked, and SimpleSource will keep you posted on the results. You don’t have to do anything. You can watch your fulfillment grow in real-time or set it and forget it.

“You set it and forget it. SimpleSource does its thing, and I can get other work done while my wantlist is being automatically reworked for traditional wholesale inventory and marketplace inventory.”

Kevin Chak, Store Manager, Skyline College Bookstore
