Streamline the sign-up process
The top reason why customers may not sign up or complete sign up for your store’s loyalty program is because it is too complicated or time consuming. The entire experience should be as simple and frictionless as possible. There should be minimal effort on the part of the customer to sign up for loyalty while offering easily identifiable and quickly accessible rewards.

Provide instant savings
Think about the loyalty programs you have joined. The programs that probably come to mind are the ones you use most, but why do you use them? Chances are the reward structure is simple to follow, and you quickly see a return.

If you want to boost membership, offer everyone who signs up for loyalty $5 in rewards that they can use immediately. Make it easy to use their reward points and see the value in the program. Maybe membership to your programs gives customer 10% off coffee, a percentage off textbook rentals, something that will keep customers coming back to the store to take advantage of the program.

Host a giveaway
Another good way to boost membership is incentivize signing up by having a giveaway. To enter for whatever the prize is, all they have to do is sign up for loyalty, like your social media page, and take a selfie in the store and post it on social media, tagging your page. Yes, this is more complicated that signing up for loyalty would normally be, but they aren’t doing it for the program. They are doing it for a chance to win the prize.

Not only will this help boost your memberships, but it will also help boost your social media reach. Look for campus events that would provide a lot of foot traffic like game days, orientation, or whatever brings a lot of students in the direction of the campus store. Set up a table with the giveaway and clear instructions about how to enter.
