The UD Bookstore Turns Buyback into a Main Event

It’s no secret that the end of the semester is a stressful time for students. To help them make it through successfully, the University of Dayton Bookstore has had a long-standing tradition of offering free massages to their customers during buyback. This year, the staff at the UD Bookstore took this a step further, transforming their buyback and rental return into the "Main Event.”

How many student workers do you employ in your store? At UC Davis Stores, they comprise a large part of the staff overall, with about 200 student workers to 40 full-time employees. Every department has students in supervisory or lead roles, and according to Director Jason Lorgan, they’re even the ones in charge on weekends.

For most basketball fans, all eyes were on March Madness last month. But for Missouri Valley Conference fans, focus shifted toward Arch Madness — the Missouri Valley Tournament, March 5-8.

The Wichita State University Shockers were among the competing teams, which means one thing for the University Bookstore and Alumni Association: the annual alumni pep rally. Fans flock to St. Louis to catch the big games and the bookstore follows to sell spirit wear, memorabilia and more.

It's March and you know what that means: All over the country, campuses are beginning to empty as students make a beeline for their spring break destinations. No matter where they travel, you can bet that they’ll have their phones in hand — so a great way to keep interaction up is by running some kind of giveaway (like a photo contest) through your store’s social media accounts. This is the third year that the Old Post Bookstore has invited their customers to share spring break pictures featuring Vincennes University gear for a chance to win gift cards to the store.
