As the end of the year draws to a close, we think back over the past year. We are grateful for each college store that has taken the time to speak with us and share ideas, tools and processes that have helped them reach new heights in 2023. Foreword Online will return on January 8, 2024, but let’s take a moment to look back at some of the best advice shared by college stores this year.
Why is the campus store a great place for students, and the rest of the campus community, to shop? With the increase in competition, both on and off campus, it is important to remind your students, faculty and staff why the campus store should be their top choice.
The college store supports the campus community in many ways. Klamath Community College Bookstore and Library partnered together to create and support a monthly Heritage Reading program. We recently spoke with Carly Gilder, Bookstore Manager, Klamath Community College Bookstore, to learn more about its Heritage Reading program and how it was successfully implemented.
MBS is celebrating 50 years of serving college stores. We are grateful for all of our college store partners and look forward to the years to come.
College stores work hard to offer the best service to students and the campus community, especially the campus store at Anoka-Ramsey Community College (ARCC). Wanting to ensure students get the best prices on textbooks, the store has worked to continuously evolve with changing industry demands. We recently spoke with Rita Smith, Campus Store Manager/Food Services, Anoka-Ramsey Community College to learn the steps her store has taken to ensure students save money and how the MBS system has helped streamline vital store processes to make it possible.
MBS Rental offers college stores a terrific opportunity to provide students with the upfront cost savings they are looking for on course materials. College stores simply submit to MBS the list of books that could be offered to students as rentals. We will send back guaranteed rebate quotes for each qualifying title.
In-store foot traffic probably slows down significantly over the summer. Take this natural lull to develop a strong eCommerce strategy that will boost your store’s online sales for the entire year and help increase summer sales.
The end of term is rapidly approaching, and stores are starting to receive textbook adoptions. It is never too early to submit a wantlist to MBS and start a bin and hold. As new adoptions come in, you can easily update your list and request multiple reworks, helping your store maximize fulfillment, access more of our low-cost inventory and get more books in one shipment.
When students want to purchase course materials or emblematic merchandise, is your college store the first choice that comes to mind? How do students view the campus store? These questions are why it is important to strengthen your store’s omnichannel brand experience.
